China's sundial instrument research and development key technology has made a historic breakthrough

Recently, a 70mm caliber sundial prototype of the Yunnan Astronomical Observatory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences successfully obtained the image of the sundial at the Lijiang Rizhao Station in Yunnan. This is the first time that the independent research and development of the Japanese instrument has achieved a historic breakthrough, marking that China has mastered the key technology of the Japanese instrument, paving the way for the smooth implementation of the big day funeral project in the future.

The sundial is the very thin atmosphere of the outermost layer of the sun. It is one of the places where the sun is active. Its brightness is less than one millionth of that of the photosphere. It is also an important target for space environment monitoring. Because the weak sundial radiation is submerged in strong solar radiation and atmospheric light, the sun can only be seen on the ground during the total solar eclipse. With the development of technology, astronomers do not have to wait for the eclipse to occur, using the sundial I can photograph the sun's sundial.

The most basic principle of the sundial is to put a blind baffle to block the sunlight of the photosphere, shielding the image of the sun ball while allowing the image of the sundial to pass. The occlusion disc is typically a polished metal cone or a slanted mirror (the mirror reflects the radiation from the photosphere to a separate photothermal window). At present, many countries are strengthening their research on Japanese funeral instruments.

As China's demand for space environment monitoring and forecasting becomes more and more intense, the construction of large-scale sundial instruments is becoming increasingly urgent. Due to the difficulty in the development of the sundial instrument, it is necessary to overcome the noise signal of millions of orders, and the requirements for the site are also high. The Yunnan Astronomical Observatory has been actively planning for the introduction of talents, team building, technical research, and high-altitude Japanese funeral site selection for a long time, trying to independently develop China's sundial instrument and screen out excellent observation sites.
