In February 2016, Jaguar Land Rover's global new car retail sales were 37,494 units, compared with 28,689 units in February 2015, a significant increase of 30.69% year-on-year. From January to February, the company's cumulative global sales were 83,510 units, an increase of 26.68% compared with 65,826 units in the same period last year.
Among the two brands, Jaguar's global retail sales in June were 6,738 units. In February last year, it sold 4,504 units, a sharp increase of 49.60% year-on-year; Jaguar accounted for 17.97% of the group's sales in February. Land Rover's global retail sales in February were 30,756 units. In February last year, it sold 24,185 units, up 27.17% this year. Land Rover accounted for 82.03% of the group's sales in February.
Jaguar Land Rover suffered a sales decline in 2015 and fell continuously from May to August. Mainly due to poor sales performance in China, from December 2014 to September 2015, sales in the Chinese market fell for 10 months. Since September 2015, Jaguar Land Rover's global sales have rebounded, rising to 6 months last month. Sales in China also rebounded in October last year. Although it declined in November and December, it has shown a sharp rise this year.
In the first two months, Jaguar's global retail sales volume was 14,679 units, compared with 10,009 units sold in the same period last year, up 46.66% year-on-year. Jaguar accounted for 17.58% of the group's sales in the first two months. Land Rover's global retail sales in the first two months were 68,831 units, compared with 55,817 units sold in the same period last year, up 23.32% this year; Land Rover accounted for 82.42% of the group's sales in the first two months.
Regional sales: strong growth in China
Last month, Jaguar Land Rover achieved double-digit year-on-year growth in sales in various regional markets.
China is still its largest single market, with sales reaching 6,274 units in February, up 13.91% year-on-year from 5,508 units in February 2015. Although the growth rate is relatively low compared to other markets, there are seasonal factors. From January to February, Jaguar Land Rover's cumulative retail sales in the Chinese market was 17,676 units, compared with 16,328 units in the same period last year, up 8.26% year-on-year.
The UK is the main market with the highest growth rate of Jaguar Land Rover last month, with a year-on-year increase of 84.29%, but the sales volume is 2,381 units, which is a big gap with China.
Jaguar Land Rover's retail sales in North America increased by 26.76% last month and climbed 52.48% in Europe.
Model sales: two cars become the new main force
