Magna will supply frame for generic pickups and SUVs

According to Reuters, Magna recently announced that the company has signed a supply contract with General Motors Group, which will supply frame trucks for generic pickups and SUVs.

Magna will produce frames at its Ontario Lakes plant in Canada and in Saltillo, Mexico.

Magna spokesperson Tracy Fuerst said that the new frame that was supplied this time was the third-generation frame developed by Magna for General Motors. The frame will replace the existing GMT 900 frame. The GMT 900 frame is currently used in general GMC models, Chevrolet models (such as Suburban, Tahoe and Silvarado).

This frame supply order is a redemption for the Magna Canada factory. Previously under the influence of GM's bankruptcy, Magna Canada was facing severe layoffs and production cuts. In April of this year, Magna's Canadian factory laid off 750 [reviewed image forums] names. In July, it recruited 550 [reviewed image forum] workers.

With Ford, Chrysler and GM planning to close factories in the coming years, the Canadian automotive industry is uncertain, and 35,000 workers in Ontario, Canada will face unemployment.
