KIOTI is one of the top tractor brands in the world. Pronounced "coyote," the brand features a coyote on its logo. Since its introduction to the U.S. market in 1986, KIOTI has grown quickly, known for its technology, value, and customer service.
KIOTI Tractor is part of Daedong Corporation, based in Daegu, South Korea. Founded in 1947, Daedong started producing tractors in 1968 and has since expanded into various agricultural and construction equipment.
In 1993, Daedong established Daedong-USA, Inc. in North Carolina to distribute KIOTI tractors in North America. The company later moved its U.S. headquarters to Wendell, North Carolina. KIOTI Canada was founded in 2018 with a distribution center in Mississauga, Ontario.
KIOTI tractors and engines sold in North America are manufactured in Korea and China and distributed from facilities in North Carolina and Ontario. The brand has around 500 dealers across North America carrying its tractor line.
Initially focused on compact utility tractors under 100 horsepower, KIOTI has expanded its product range over the years. Today, it offers a wide variety of farm and construction equipment, including:

KIOTI Compact Construction Equipment Expansion In North America
In 2021, KIOTI announced the introduction of a compact track loader and skid steer to its dealers, with production starting in 2022. These mid-range machines will target both markets.
According to Joel Hicks, KIOTI’s product development manager, these new products are designed, engineered, and manufactured by KIOTI. “We’re not private labeling anyone else’s machines,†he said in an interview with Equipment World. “Our goal is to offer as much benefit to the customer at a reasonable price.â€
These mid-range products will compete against established brands like Yanmar, Kubota, and Kohler. “We're looking for additional opportunities in complementary markets that could be served by our dealer network,†Hicks continued. “Compact construction equipment is a natural fit for us when you look at the customers and dealers we focus on, as well as our manufacturing capability.â€
Many of KIOTI’s 500 dealers in North America currently don’t carry compact construction equipment. Introducing these new lines will allow them to serve new markets.
In 2017, KIOTI invested $13 million to expand its North American headquarters. Peter Dong-Kyun Kim, President and CEO of Daedong-USA, Inc., stated, “KIOTI has seen tremendous growth in recent years, and this expansion is critical as we seek to build upon our foundation of success to better support our dealer network and deliver outstanding service to our growing customer base.â€
Are KIOTI and Kubota Affiliated?
KIOTI and Kubota are not the same, nor are they currently affiliated. In the past, Daedong, KIOTI's parent company, partnered with Kubota to produce one tractor model, but that partnership no longer exists. Both brands now compete in segments like compact tractors and compact construction equipment. Kubota has a larger dealer network in North America compared to KIOTI.
In 2002, Kubota sued Daedong in California for trademark infringement because KIOTI used a similar orange color and hood shape decal. After a five-year legal battle, both companies reached an undisclosed settlement in August 2007. Both continue to use the orange color and hood shape decal, suggesting the lawsuit had little impact.
Who Makes KIOTI Engines?
Almost all of KIOTI’s under-75-horsepower products, except zero-turn mowers, use Daedong engines (KIOTI’s parent company). “We have a long history of manufacturing engines,†said Hicks.
KIOTI’s Daedong engines are made in South Korea and Asia. They are installed in tractors and other equipment before being shipped to end markets like North America and Europe.
Are KIOTI Tractors Any Good?
KIOTI tractors and engines are known for their high quality. The brand offers a powertrain warranty of up to 72 months (six years), one of the best in the industry. This warranty covers models like the CS, CX, CK10, CK10SE, DK10, DK10SE, and NX series.
