Working fire in Oak Park, 11-3-15

This message comes from Josh Boyajian:

On Tuesday, November 3rd, 2015, around 7:30 PM, the Main Fire Alarm Office (MFAO) dispatched the 18th Battalion to a silent alarm at the corner of Rice and Austin. Just 30 seconds later, Oak Park was alerted to a structure fire at the same location, with the caller reporting smoke and flames coming from the third floor of an apartment building. Battalion 18 arrived on scene and immediately informed the MFAO that there was a fire on the third floor of a three-story apartment building on the Oak Park side of the street. Engine 96 responded and took the lead. Truck 29 was the first truck on the scene and they extended the main line to the roof. The fire was clearly visible on the third floor. I arrived after the fire had been knocked down, but it was impressive to see both departments working together so smoothly. Here are some photos.

The coordination between the Chicago Fire Department and the Oak Park Fire Department was truly commendable. It's always great to see different agencies work together in such a professional and efficient manner, especially during high-pressure situations like a nighttime structure fire. The photos give a good sense of the scale of the incident and the dedication of the firefighters involved.
