Chicago Still & Box Alarm, 12-31-13

This message is from Eric Haak:

Here are some photos from a Still & Box Alarm fire that occurred on the 6600 block of South Oakley in Chicago. The call came in at 9:36 AM, and the scene was immediately boxed due to reports of people trapped inside. Engine 101 responded and confirmed a basement fire in a one-story single-family home. An elderly woman was pulled out of the house, though it's unclear whether it was firefighters or civilians who helped her. She was taken to the hospital and appeared alert when we arrived. It took me about ten minutes to get there after the dispatch, so that gives you an idea of the timing. I also included a photo of Engine 123 with a memorial decal for Captain Johnson below the driver’s side windshield.

I’ve attached several images from the scene, including one showing Engine 123 with a special tribute to Captain Johnson. These photos were taken during the incident, and they give a good sense of how quickly the crew responded. It’s always sobering to see these kinds of situations up close. I hope this helps provide a clearer picture of what happened. Let me know if you need more details.
