House fire in Hanesville, IL 4/9/15

A lightning strike on Thursday afternoon caused a fire that quickly spread to the roof of a home in Hainesville, according to local authorities.

The incident was reported at 12:20 p.m. when a 911 call came in regarding a house fire on Big Horn Drive, specifically in the 200 block. First responders arrived on the scene and found that about a quarter of the roof was already engulfed in flames. Firefighters worked swiftly to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading further.

Photos from the scene show the intense heat and damage caused by the fire. One image captures flames bursting through the roof, while another highlights the thick smoke rising from the burning structure. A third photo provides a broader view of the emergency response at the location.

Although no injuries have been reported so far, investigators are still looking into the cause of the fire to confirm whether it was indeed due to lightning or if other factors were involved.
