More about the new home for the South Elgin fire engine from Danny Nelms:
The engine, which once served the South Elgin Fire Department and had been in Pennsylvania for several years, was recently put up for sale. In response to the destruction caused by the tornado in Mayfield and Graves County, Kentucky, Penn Forest Volunteer Fire Company #2 decided to donate the unit to the Mayfield/Graves County Fire and Rescue Squad. Their firehouse was completely destroyed, along with multiple pieces of equipment.ÂThe Seagrave engine was loaded onto a flatbed trailer and set off for Kentucky late on the evening of December 16th. The donation is a heartwarming example of community support and solidarity in the face of disaster.

This engine, built in 1987, is a classic example of the Seagrave design that served many departments across the country. While this particular unit has found a new purpose in Kentucky, it’s a reminder of how fire apparatus often moves from one community to another, continuing its service in different places. It's always inspiring to see how these vehicles can be repurposed to help those in need, especially after natural disasters. This gesture by Penn Forest Volunteer Fire Company #2 shows the power of teamwork and compassion in times of crisis.
