A turbocharger is an air pump that uses the residual energy of the engine exhaust gas to operate. So the full name should be: exhaust turbocharger. The exhaust gas drives the turbine and it is connected to the compressor wheel. When the turbocharger rotor rotates, the compressed air is forcibly delivered to the combustion chamber of the engine. Due to the increased quality of the compressed air, more fuel can be injected into the engine, and the engine is constant in size. Under conditions where more power is generated, the power output of an engine equipped with a turbocharger can be increased by 40% or more compared to when it is unpressurized.

When the engine runs at low speed or idle speed, very little energy is released into the exhaust pipe. But when the engine emits power, there is a lot of energy in the form of high-temperature gas in the cylinder expansion work and is discharged to the exhaust system, then the turbocharger to absorb part of the energy, use it to put as much as possible More air is sent to the engine. As the pressure in the cylinder increases, there is more and more energy to drive the turbocharger, thereby continuously increasing the speed of the turbocharger.

Proper use of booster

1. Must pay attention to fill the lubricating oil according to the stipulated brand number.

Turbocharger rotor shaft speed up to 150,000r/min, therefore, the supercharger uses a fully floating bearing. There is a gap between the full floating bearing and the rotor shaft and the housing bearing. When the rotor shaft rotates at high speed, the lubricating oil with the pressure of 0.25-0.4Mpa fills the two clearances, so that the floating bearing with the rotor shaft in the inner and outer two layers of oil film Rotate in the same direction, but its rotation speed is much lower than the rotor shaft, so that the relative linear velocity of the bearing relative to the bearing hole and the rotor shaft is greatly reduced. Due to the double oil film, it can be double-layered and double-layered. It can be seen that the floating bearing has the advantages of reliable operation at high speed and light load, but at the same time, the floating bearing has high requirements for lubricating oil, and should use lubricating oil with a capacity of 40 CD or more.

2. The lubricating oil used must be clean, otherwise it will accelerate the bearing wear and even lead to deterioration of the supercharger and engine performance. Therefore, the oil filter element must be regularly cleaned or replaced in strict accordance with the maintenance regulations. Replace the oil and filter element in the 1500km run-in period, and then change the oil every 10,000km.

3. The air filter should be cleaned periodically in accordance with the maintenance regulations. The air filter element should be replaced every two years or it should be replaced periodically. Always check the airtightness of the intake and exhaust systems during use.

4. In order to ensure the lubrication of the floating bearing, the engine should be idle for a few minutes (at least 30s) when the engine is started, because the oil pressure and the oil circulation to the floating bearing take some time, otherwise the lubrication condition of the floating bearing cannot be guaranteed, which intensifies the bearing. Worn and even stuck stuck. The same is true when shutting down, gradually reducing the load, and stopping until idle for a few minutes.
