Straw and other waste "transformed" 3D printing materials

The traditional 3D printing materials mainly consist of PS plastic and nylon, which are used in industrial investment casting and have the disadvantages of being easily deformed and expensive. Recently, the scientific team led by Professor Guo Yanling from the School of Mechanical and Electronic Engineering of Northeast Forestry University developed a new type of composite material made from agricultural and forestry wastes such as rice husks, straw, etc. The laser 3D printing technology can produce high strength and accuracy. The 3D model, this new 3D printed composite has received orders from Beijing, Shanghai and other machinery manufacturing and 3D printing companies.
Prof. Guo Yanling told reporters that traditional machine equipment manufacturing companies first test the new parts by hand-manufactured equipment. However, this hand-made model is not high in accuracy and wear resistance. At present, large-scale industrial manufacturing companies such as Hafei and Dongan have already tried 3D printing technology when making mechanical parts models. However, in the process of studying laser 3D printing, Professor Guo's team found that PS plastics and nylons, which are mainly used for 3D printing, are not easily deformable or costly when used in the field of investment casting in industry. After several years of research and development experiments, the team developed a new type of 3D printing composite material using wood flour, bamboo powder, corn cob powder, and rice husk straw powder mixed with plastic. This kind of composite material is mainly used for agricultural and forestry waste in our province. The cost is low. After adjusting and adding the ratio, the final strength of the material can also be adjusted. The performance is stable in the laser sintering process, easy to form, and the dimensional precision of the molded part is high. Mechanical strength can be comparable to wood, polymers, ceramics and other materials.
At present, in addition to such wood-plastic composite materials made of agricultural and forestry waste, Guo Yanling team also developed a variety of composite 3D printing materials such as stone plastic, jade stone plastic, pottery and plastic, not only through laser 3D printing technology applied to the industrial melt Die casting, can also be used for handicraft production and other aspects. Prof. Guo told reporters that their project team has now settled in the Department of Science and Technology Department under the Department of Science and Technology, Huizhong space, hoping to use the power of incubators to enable rapid business growth.
