Recently, Beijing Mercedes-Benz Automobile Co., Ltd. filed a recall plan with the AQSIQ in accordance with the "Regulations on the Management of Defective Automobile Product Recalls" and the "Implementation Measures for the Management of Defective Automobile Product Recalls", starting from November 1, 2017. A total of 23 GLA and E-class vehicles were recalled. details as follows:
(1) A total of 16 GLA-class vehicles produced between February 6, 2017 and February 15, 2017;
(2) A total of 7 E-class vehicles produced between March 8, 2017 and March 9, 2017.
In the above range (1), part of the GLA vehicle is installed under the roof trim panel, and additional foam parts are located in the unfolded area of ​​the curtain airbag. If the vehicle collides and activates the curtain airbag, the foam component may hinder the deployment of the airbag and affect the airbag. Its protection function increases the risk of occupants being injured and has potential safety hazards. Beijing Benz Auto Co., Ltd. will remove extra foam on the top lining of vehicles within the recall to eliminate safety hazards.
In the above range (2), part of the E-class (213 platform) vehicle ESP (body electronic stability system) control unit housing may be damaged during transportation before loading, causing water vapor to enter the ESP control unit or lead to ESP control. The internal parts of the unit are damaged. Some features of the ESP system and the electronic parking brake may not work, posing a safety hazard. However, accidental actuation and fire hazards of the ESP system can be eliminated. Beijing Benz Auto Co., Ltd. will replace the ESP control unit with the vehicle within the recall to eliminate potential safety hazards.
The Mercedes-Benz Authorized Service Center will notify the owner of the recall by registered mail.
