HCFCs entering the implementation stage will bring a big challenge to the polyurethane foam industry

Drying equipment

China Drying Network News According to Li Yunpeng of the Ministry of Environmental Protection's Foreign Economic Relations Office, the acceleration of the HCFCs phase-out plan and full-flow quota management system from next year means that production quotas and sales record management are implemented for production enterprises; Exporters implement sales record management; use quota management for the use of enterprises; and gradually establish a sales registration registration system. The quota for 2013 is the average value of the controlled production or use of the company in 2009 and 2010. The annual use quota is calculated from January 1 of each year, and is valid in that year. The quota for 2013 will be issued before December 20, 2012. At the same time, since 2013, the Ministry of Environmental Protection has investigated and dealt with violations of relevant management requirements in accordance with the relevant provisions of the “Ozone Depleting Substances Management Regulations.”

PU foam is the main downstream industry for HCFCs. Liu Weidong, secretary-general of the Polyurethane Special Committee of the China Plastics Processing Industry Association, said that HCFC-141b is widely used in the PU foam industry, involving refrigerators, freezers, refrigerated containers and refrigerated trucks, small household appliances, foam sprayers, solar water heaters, sheet and pipe insulation, Car bubble and other 9 areas. At present, there are as many as 3,500 enterprises that use HCFC-141b as a foaming agent in the PU foam industry, so the elimination work is very onerous. The freezing of the consumption of HCFCs will cause a certain impact on the development of the industry.

In addition to the large number of companies involved, PU foam manufacturers are also facing pressure to find economically viable alternative technologies.

Liu Weidong told reporters that the density, dimensional stability, thermal conductivity and cell structure of PU foam products are directly related to the foaming agent. For the choice of foaming agent, different industries have different requirements. At present, the replacement technologies of HCFC-141b in PU foam industry mainly include hydrocarbon foaming technology (ie cyclopentane alternative technology), all-water foaming technology, and hydrofluorocarbon (HFCs) foaming technology. These technologies have their own advantages and disadvantages. .

Among them, hydrocarbon replacement technology is relatively mature, mainly using cyclopentane as a blowing agent, applicable to refrigerators, freezers, refrigerated containers, electric water heaters, solar water heaters, PU plates and other products. The advantage is that the product has better thermal insulation properties and the blowing agent price is close to that of HCFC-141b. However, due to the inflammability and explosion of cyclopentane and the increase of safety hazards, the cyclopentane replacement technology requires explosion-proof technological transformation of foaming equipment and production environment. The one-time investment is large, and there are also certain requirements for transportation and storage conditions. The company has a better management level.

The full-water foaming system utilizes the reaction of water with isocyanate to generate carbon dioxide gas, and in fact, carbon dioxide (CO2) remains in the foam as a blowing agent. This method has the advantages of good foaming performance and safe use; the disadvantages are poor thermal insulation properties of the products, the products are relatively brittle, and the cost is high. They are not suitable for products with higher requirements on thermal insulation coefficient, and are mainly applicable to Insulation pipes, automotive polyurethane, non-insulation foam materials, etc.

Hydrofluorocarbon foaming systems mainly include HFC-245fa, HFC-365mfc/227e and other foaming agents and are mainly used as substitutes for HCFC-141b in spray foams. The gas diffusion rate of HFCs in the cells of PU foams is low, and the foams have good aging and thermal insulation properties. However, the HFCs have high GWPs and their application is limited by the Kyoto Protocol. Moreover, the current prices are generally high, which is not conducive to the control of production costs by companies.

Therefore, the choice of blowing agent alternatives for their own products is crucial for companies facing elimination tasks. In response, Lin Yongfei, chairman of Jiangsu Luyuan New Materials Co., Ltd., believes that the key to solving the problem of alternative technologies is to ensure product quality, and to control the cost of raw materials. Even the best prices are too high and there is no market competitiveness. According to Li Yuxi of the Ministry of Environmental Protection's Foreign Economic Relations Office, the Chinese government has been encouraging the development and promotion of domestically produced alternative equipment and alternatives. If the domestic equipment and technology can meet the requirements for replacement and the economic cost is lower, it should guarantee that the project will not be postponed. Under the premise of progress, priority should be given to domestically produced products in order to enhance the permanence and breadth of substitution effects.

Solid Lubrication Materials

When used as a solid lubricant or its additive, the fluorocarbon material produced by ZSEM has a high load-bearing capacity. When used in high-load equipment, they exhibit the characteristics of physical thermal stability, chemical thermal stability and aging stability, low friction coefficient and low power loss, and small rise in temperature.
