At the delivery ceremony, Baidu said that the autopilot function developed in cooperation with JAC will be equipped on the production model in the second half of 2019. At present, the automated driving technology developed by major manufacturers is mostly in the second level, that is, the “partial automation” function is realized, and driving support is provided for multiple operations in the steering wheel and acceleration and deceleration according to the driving environment. The third level refers to “conditional automation”, that is, all driving operations are completed by the automatic driving system, and the human driver provides an appropriate response according to the system request.
High-precision maps are the key to autopilot. The high-precision map has three main functions in the automatic driving process: first, knowing the position information in advance and accurately planning the driving route; secondly, timely feeding back the data in the place where the camera is not clear or the radar cannot detect; third, accurate identification Hundreds of targets, such as traffic signs and markings, make accurate judgments and decisions in advance.
At present, the high-precision map information collected by Baidu is mainly based on national expressways and urban expressways. The total mileage of roads to be collected is about 300,000 kilometers. The collected data includes basic information such as road path and altitude, and includes road markings and traffic signs. After the collection of these information, the software developed by Baidu is made into a high-precision map that can be used by the vehicle-mounted automatic driving equipment. The automation degree of the production is over 90%, the lateral error of the map is controlled at about 0.1 meter, and the longitudinal error is within 1.5-2 meters. The recognition accuracy of hundreds of targets such as various traffic signs, ground signs, lane lines and signal lights along the road reaches 95%.
As the first step to achieve the third-level automatic driving, Jianghuai provides Baidu with high-precision map mapping vehicles, indicating that the two sides will carry out deeper cooperation in automatic driving. Officials said that the production car with the third-level automatic driving function is scheduled to be launched in the second half of 2019.
