Man's compact natural gas engine E0836 makes the city sky bluer

Natural gas vehicles, with their rich fuel resources, good emissions, and high safety, are widely valued by automobile manufacturers in various countries and become one of the alternative energy vehicles that are currently prioritized for development. As the world’s leading manufacturer of trucks and buses, Mann is also committed to continuous R&D and upgrading of natural gas engines while attaching importance to the research and development of diesel engines.

As early as the 2010 International Commercial Vehicle Show (IAA) in Hannover, MAN Commercial Vehicles AG launched the new E0836LOH01, a new natural gas engine with onboard diagnostics II. In the same year, this 6.9-liter compact turbo natural gas engine began to be applied and promoted. Mann thus broadened the application platform of natural gas engines that can be provided within the scope of buses, short-distance passenger cars and minibuses. At present, the power range of MAN gas engines covers from 162kW (220PS) E0836 type to 228kW (310PS) E2876 type.

Mann's natural gas engines always regard environmental protection as the highest purpose and have almost achieved particle-free emissions. The E0836LOH01 natural gas engine achieves EEV and Euro VI emissions through a three-way catalytic converter, eliminating the need for additives and particulate filters. With the new engine controller EGC4, on-board diagnostics II and upgraded catalytic converter technology, the emission values are even significantly better than EEV and Euro VI. Due to the three-way catalytic converter and air intake coefficient adjustment=1, the emission of nitrogen oxides from the E0836LOH01 natural gas is minimal, which is in line with the requirements of the pollution index that clearly requires reduction of nitrogen oxide emissions in the EU regulations that have been implemented since 2010.

Like other natural gas engines in Manchester, the E0836 is definitely a promising model, especially in urban centers where emissions are extremely demanding. The engine can also be driven by dedicated Biogas, which will further reduce CO2 emissions. Even if driven by conventional natural gas, it emits a very small amount of CO2 compared to a diesel engine. The weight of the new E0836 engine (162~206kW, rated speed 2200r/min) is only 650kg, which is about 400kg less than that of the old engine E2876 (199~228kW). Smaller, lighter, and more economical engines are matched to the chassis of the same bus, which increases the specific power and power of the vehicle. One of the ideal power characteristics of the E0836 is its power as a passenger car. It provides flexible power in operation and low noise levels recognized by natural gas engines. It is ideally suited for buses, coaches and minibuses operating in cities.

In addition, the 30000km maintenance cycle of the E0836LOH01 natural gas engine is also a real contribution to the customer's cost savings. At the same time, the maintenance and maintenance of the engine is facilitated by the diagnostic system MANcatsII.

3D Printing

3D printing (3DP) is a kind of Rapid Prototyping technology, which is a kind of technology to construct objects by layer-by-layer printing based on digital model files by using powdery metal or plastic and other adhesive materials.

3D printing is usually realized by digital technology material printer. It is often used in mold manufacturing, industrial design and other fields to make models, and then gradually used in the direct manufacturing of some products. There are already parts printed by this technology. The technology is used in jewelry, footwear, industrial design, architecture, engineering and construction (AEC), automotive, aerospace, dental and medical industries, education, geographic information systems, civil engineering, firearms and other fields.
