Method of Selecting System Power in Security Weak Current Project

When a surveillance camera is usually installed in a project, the front camera generally has 3 power supply options. The camera is usually powered by 12v DC. The dome is generally powered by 24V AC. Some cameras use 220V AC to provide power directly. Some home network cameras supply 5V.
Select 12V DC power supply, the power supply can generally be placed in an outdoor enclosure or a separate power box within 2 meters of the camera. If placed in the protective cover, the protective cover is generally selected larger, because the camera power supply will generate heat during long-term operation, and a larger space is more conducive to heat dissipation.
Select AC 24V monitoring power supply, in the same line transmission distance, the higher the voltage, the smaller the resulting losses. The higher the voltage, the smaller the loss, the load can get a more adequate voltage.
In the security monitoring system , it is better not to share one power supply in the entire monitoring system.
The main reasons are as follows:
1. When the system is being repaired, it is often necessary to turn the power on or off. Therefore, every time the power supply is restarted, all surveillance cameras are restarted, and the instantaneous current of the device is large at the time of starting, and the impact on the power supply is great. In severe cases, the power supply may be damaged or burned.
2. Secondly, a security monitoring system uses a common power supply. Just like a series circuit in a circuit, if one device is damaged, the entire security system will not work properly. In particular, some important entrances and exits cannot be monitored and may cause unnecessary trouble.
Selecting an independent power supply is a good bedding for subsequent maintenance.
In fact, because the monitoring camera is at the moment of starting, the starting current is very large, and the loss in long-distance transmission, the power needed by the monitoring camera does not simply add up the rated power of all the monitoring cameras. Instead, the rated power of all surveillance cameras in the entire surveillance system is summed and multiplied by 1.3 times. This is the actual power required by the surveillance cameras, plus about 30 losses, and finally 30 margins. The future use of capacity expansion is the correct calculation method for the power supply of a security monitoring system.
