With the approval of the Hubei Provincial Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision, the Hubei Provincial Phosphorus Chemical Product Quality Testing Center was officially established. This center was set up based on the Yichang Municipal Center for Product Quality Supervision and Inspection, which had previously been affiliated with the Yichang Municipal Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision. The creation of this center marks a significant milestone, as it fills a critical gap in China's national infrastructure for non-phosphorus chemical product quality testing.
In recent years, the phosphorus chemical industry in China has experienced rapid growth, and Yichang City has emerged as a major hub in this sector. With strong competitiveness and robust development momentum, the city has become a key player in the national phosphorus chemical landscape. According to available data, over 480 phosphorus chemical companies operate in Hubei Province, with 80% located in Yichang and its surrounding areas. Yichang is also one of China’s eight major phosphate mining regions, boasting proven reserves of 1.4 billion tons and an additional 953 million tons of phosphate ore. Leading companies such as Yihua Group and Xingfa Group have further solidified the city’s position as a powerhouse in the industry.
Following Yichang’s ambitious goal of becoming China’s largest phosphorus chemical base, the Municipal Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision took proactive steps to establish the Hubei Provincial Phosphorus Chemical Product Quality Testing Center. This initiative not only addresses a long-standing need but also provides essential technical support in areas such as product quality inspection, standard system development, new product research, and quality supervision. As a result, local phosphorus chemical companies are now better positioned to compete in international markets.
The center currently operates within a laboratory area of nearly 5,000 square meters, including 2,000 square meters dedicated to phosphating product testing. The facility is equipped with controlled environmental conditions, including temperature, humidity, lighting, and ventilation, ensuring optimal testing environments. The center employs nearly 30 skilled professionals and is equipped with advanced detection equipment capable of handling general inspections for all phosphorus chemical products, as well as most special project indicators. This comprehensive capability ensures that the center can meet the evolving needs of the industry efficiently and effectively.
