BorgWarner has announced that it will supply turbochargers to Mercedes-Benz S250CDI diesel engines.
The R2S turbocharger system consists of a small high-pressure exhaust gas turbocharger KP39 and a large, low-pressure exhaust turbocharger K04. The high-pressure turbine is driven by exhaust gas at speeds of up to 215,000 rpm.
In addition, BorgWarner installed a bypass for the high pressure turbocharger in the R2S turbocharger system to control the turbine based on the speed of the engine to achieve the best boost performance.
The S250CDI BlueEFFICIENCY is a 2.2-liter, 4-cylinder diesel engine with a fuel efficiency of 41 mpg (5.7 liters per 100 kilometers) and CO2 emissions of 149 grams per kilometre.
