European lighting products face new requirements for electromagnetic radiation testing

Recently, the European Union issued an official gazette to incorporate the new evaluation test requirement for electromagnetic radiation EN62493:2010 into the list of harmonized standards for the Low Voltage Directive (LVD Directive), and formally enforced it from February 1, 2013.
As the main force of foreign exchange earning by export, Ningbo lamps and lanterns have strong export momentum, and export volume accounts for about 13 of the national lamps and lanterns. At present, Yuyao and Cixi have formed two major lighting production bases.
In the first half of this year, 21,260 batches of lamps and lanterns were exported in Ningbo, with a value of 558 million US dollars, an increase of 12.2 and 88.9 respectively over the same period of last year. The export volume increased significantly. Among them, 11204 batches were exported to the EU, with a value of 295.558 million US dollars, accounting for more than half of the export volume. The main products are garden lights, street lights, flood lights, underground lights, night lights, LED lights and so on.
The inspection and quarantine department reminded that at present, the electromagnetic radiation standard of lamps has entered a transition period, and relevant enterprises should incorporate electromagnetic radiation test assessment into the agenda as soon as possible so as not to miss the opportunity of export.
