German companies focus on engine aftertreatment systems

It is understood that the three German manufacturers plan to establish a joint venture before the next engine emission standard in 2011 will come into effect to develop and produce exhaust gas aftertreatment systems for off-highway machinery.

Deutz has stated that Deutz, Robert Bosch and J. Eberspächer have signed cooperation agreements.

The statement said that companies must share relevant expertise. The three companies have their own strengths. The engine manufacturer Deutz has a lot of experience in reducing exhaust emissions. Bosch has extensive experience in exhaust gas after-treatment in SCR selective catalytic reduction units and electronic control units.

In the statement, Deutz said that the relevant agencies will now negotiate joint development, production and sales of diesel exhaust aftertreatment systems.

Deutz said that more stringent emission standards will take effect in 2011, such as Europe's Stage IIIB and IV, the US Tier 4 transitional standards and final standards, and Japan's relevant standards. At that time, the demand for exhaust gas aftertreatment systems will greatly increase.

The company said that because of the unanimous results of the negotiations, the joint venture company will provide a full range of diesel exhaust gas treatment systems to engine and machinery manufacturers worldwide.
