2-11 Alarm fire in Chicago, 1-8-17 (part 2)

This report comes from Dan McInerney:

I arrived on the scene after the fire had been knocked down, having driven through it on my way home from work. The fire was in a two-story frame house measuring 25 by 70 feet, with flames visible throughout the second floor and extending to the roof. There was a collapse in the rear section, which appeared to be an enclosed porch area. I believe the 2-11 alarm was due to a communication issue at a similar house to the east, which was quickly handled once the companies arrived. All the suppression units assigned to the 2-11 were staged on Chicago Avenue in front of E117’s station. Notably, E83 responded with a light wagon as part of the 2-11 assignment. Given the icy conditions covering everything, it was extremely cold outside, and the sun was just beginning to rise over the fireground.

E117 was the first unit on scene and had three lines operating. E96 moved down to supply TL14, while E113 provided support for the Snorkel. It was a tough call, especially with the weather conditions, but the crews worked efficiently under the challenging circumstances.
