This morning, I witnessed quite the scene unfold near the intersection of west Deerfield Parkway, between Milwaukee Avenue and Busch Parkway. A single-car accident occurred when an SUV collided with a tree, leaving the driver trapped inside. Emergency services quickly arrived on the scene, with firefighters from Buffalo Grove, Lincolnshire-Riverwoods, and Long Grove rushing to assist.
The rescue operation took over an hour, as crews worked diligently using specialized Holmatro rescue tools to safely extract the injured driver. It was impressive to see the precision and teamwork involved in such a critical situation. Once freed, the victim was immediately transported to nearby Condell Hospital for medical attention.
