Thursday evening (3/23/17) brought a fire incident at the Full Still in Berwyn, and I was there to capture the action. The crews arrived shortly after 8:45 PM and found heavy smoke conditions upon arrival. North Riverside Truck 806 and Berwyn’s third engine, Engine 902, were called in for backup. Thankfully, no one was injured during this event.
Here are some images I took that evening. These photos showcase the intense efforts of firefighters as they worked tirelessly to contain the situation. You can see a firefighter carrying a ladder in the dark, highlighting the challenges they face under such circumstances. Another shot captures the damage to the roof caused by the fire, emphasizing the severity of the incident. There's also an image of a firefighter replacing an SCBA bottle at the scene, which is crucial for their safety while operating in hazardous environments.
The response vehicles, including Berwyn FD’s Engine 903 and Engine 902, along with North Riverside FD’s Truck 806, played essential roles in managing the situation. The coordination among these teams is evident in the photos, especially when you see the quint from Berwyn FD, 901, alongside the ladder trucks. It’s clear how critical each piece of equipment and every team member is in ensuring a successful outcome.
After the flames were extinguished, the clean-up process began. Firefighters were seen rolling up hoses, a task that requires precision and teamwork to ensure everything is safely stowed away. These final images show the aftermath and the dedication of the firefighters who stayed behind to wrap things up.
