Recently, the GS-11 catalyst produced by Sinopec's ethylbenzene dehydrogenation to styrene technology was applied at Taiwan Guoqiao Petrochemical Company's 130,000 tonne/year styrene plant, and the device was successfully launched. The operating results since the start of the drive show that the GS-11 catalyst has an ethylbenzene feed load of 111% and a reaction temperature 4 to 5 degrees Celsius lower than that of foreign products. The conversion of ethylbenzene exceeds 65%, and the styrene selectivity reaches 97.46%. The catalyst showed excellent overall performance and its use effect was superior to that of foreign products and was highly evaluated by users.
GS-11 ethylbenzene dehydrogenation catalyst is produced by Shanghai Petrochemical Research Institute R&D and catalyst branch. Guo Qiao Petrochemical was established in 1973 and is a leader in Taiwan's styrene industry. In May 2011, Shanghai Institute won the exchange of information on Taiwan Guoqiao Petrochemical in 2012, and established a good business relationship with Guoqiao Petrochemical. The two parties have determined their intention of cooperation and conducted several technical exchanges. In late March of this year, Catalyst Shanghai Branch and Shanghai Academy jointly formed a styrene technology service team to provide technical services to Guoqiao Petrochemical. Under the concerted efforts of all parties, Guoqiao Petrochemical's 130,000-ton/year styrene plant was successfully launched.
