ZigBee 3.0 has been awarded a vision for a unified IoT standard

[China Instrument Network Standard Sharing Circle] The ZigBee Alliance, a non-profit organization that creates an open global Internet of Things standard for consumer, commercial and industrial applications, recently announced the approval of ZigBee 3.0, which is based on the ZigBee standard and unifies the ZigBee standard. These standards have been verified on hundreds of millions of devices. The approval of ZigBee 3.0 opens up a new era for communication and interoperability between products used in connected homes, smart buildings and smart cities, and connected lighting, energy saving and other applications.

ZigBee 3.0 Approved The Internet of Things will enter a new era In order to realize this vision for the Internet of Things, the Ecanson Alliance led the standard working group in cooperation with the ZigBee Alliance. The two organizations will collaborate to combine the widely used Ethanol Equipment Documents (EEPs) in the sub-1GHz band with the newly approved ZigBee 3.0 solution operating in the 2.4GHz band.

ZigBee 3.0 is the first unified, open and complete wireless IoT product development solution. It extends from the physical layer to the application layer, including interoperability certification and brand building for a growing number of market segments. Based on the proven ZigBee Pro network networking technology and unique green energy support for energy recovery equipment, ZigBee 3.0 is fully compatible with existing ZigBee home automation and ZigBee optical link standards. ZigBee 3.0 unifies all previously application-oriented ZigBee device descriptions, behaviors, and configuration files into a common application layer that supports the full IoT product development needs of smart homes, buildings, and neighborhood networks. ZigBee 3.0 certified devices will expand the flexibility of choice for developers and users so that products and services work well together.

Bruno Vulcano, vice president of the ZigBee Alliance and VDI&RF engineering manager at Legrand, stated: “The ZigBee Alliance delivers on its commitment to unify the IoT standards. By standardizing on all network layers, ZigBee 3.0 meets the real needs of IoT devices and solutions. Interoperability requirements."

The approval of ZigBee 3.0 is the first step in a number of 2016 action plans that will focus on further simplifying the development and deployment of IoT products, reducing confusion in the industry through the definition of unified open application devices, and helping member companies to implement IoT devices. Advantages and capabilities are introduced into a wider range of applications and markets. The ZigBee Alliance is about to complete one year of major work, including expanding the number of member companies to 425 and diversifying, expanding projects and activities, and strengthening participation through holding more than 80 working group meetings each month. The alliance will continue to attract top IoT products and solutions developers in the industry. It will also work with other major alliances and consortia to encourage greater industry collaboration to reduce market chaos and further expand market growth and opportunities for member companies.
