Iveco vehicles are equipped with a vacuum booster that makes the brake pedal feel lighter, even at low speeds. This feature enhances braking efficiency, but it can also make the front brake system overly sensitive, leading to wheel lock-up and reduced driving stability. To address this issue, a hysteresis valve was installed in the front brake circuit.
The hysteresis valve is designed to allow brake fluid to flow only when the pressure reaches 0.14 MPa, which is just enough to start moving the brake shoes. Until the master cylinder pressure reaches 1.26 MPa, the valve remains closed, ensuring a controlled build-up of pressure. Once the pressure exceeds this threshold, the valve opens, allowing normal distribution of brake fluid to the front brakes.
If the driver presses the brake pedal at this point, the system can reach the maximum allowable braking pressure, providing effective and safe stopping power. The hysteresis valve is a reliable component that requires no maintenance or periodic inspection, making it a simple yet essential part of the braking system. This design helps balance sensitivity and control, improving overall safety and performance.
